For the fifth year in a row, the United Nations will bring global leaders together to nurture partnerships and mobilize high-level political and financial support for data. We’re looking forward to this chance to learn more about using data for good and how organizations can use high-quality data to support the U.N.’s goals for sustainable development. If you work in humanitarian aid or international development, this is a unique opportunity to network with world-changers and policymakers at an impactful event–and to connect with a key member of Team SurveyCTO!

Over the years, she held various internships in the US government and nonprofits concerning refugee issues, democratic development, and human rights. In the tech sector, she led a development team through the Agile process in projects related to the medical field and national security. At Dobility, Maria works with organizations to help them choose the right SurveyCTO options to collect the high-quality data they need to maximize their impact.

What to expect at the U.N. World Data Forum

The purpose of the forum is to bring together people from governments, civil society, the private sector, donor and philanthropic bodies, international and regional agencies, the geospatial community, and more to spur data innovation for development. First held in 2017, the forum has grown each year to include a wider and more diverse range of stakeholders.

Each year, the forum releases an outcome document after the conference to map discussion progress on data and statistics and stake goals for the future. Attending the forum gives you and your organization a voice in some of the most significant, world-shaping conversations and goal-setting in the development world. Plus, you’ll come away inspired by the new ways that data innovations are currently making people’s lives better, all around the world.

The forum’s program will include sessions and workshops on four key themes:

  • Innovation for better and more inclusive data
  • Maximizing the use and value of data for better decision making
  • Building trust, protection and ethics in data
  • Effective partnerships for better data and a more equitable data ecosystem
