What we were up to this year: Artificial intelligence, a podcast, and more
Somehow, it’s almost 2025. At SurveyCTO, this year was all about growth, new ideas, and turning those ideas into tools that empower you, our users, to make confident, data-driven decisions. More than ever, we believe in the power of high-quality data to guide us all towards better decisions and a better world.
As we prepare for the end of this year and look ahead to the next one, we wanted to take a moment to share some highlights you might’ve missed. Here’s a quick look back at 2024 for the SurveyCTO community:
Principle-driven innovation for AI
It’s hard to overstate how significantly Artificial intelligence (AI), especially GenAI, advanced in 2024. Across social impact, MERL, and international development sectors, one question kept coming up: How can AI make our work better, faster, and more impactful?
The team at SurveyCTO has always worked from a philosophy of principle-driven innovation on product updates and releases. Grounded in those core tenets and guided by our long-time interest in machine learning, we made our first-ever AI release in June 2024: The SurveyCTO AI Assistant.
Our Assistant is your personal survey design guide that helps you learn the SurveyCTO platform and improve your general data collection skills. Because the Assistant uses natural language processing, you can engage with it as you would another individual—with the comforting knowledge that you’re getting immediate help from a tool that is trained from our entire content repository.
If you’re looking for a way to get real-time feedback on how to improve your survey design, the Assistant is a great tool at your disposal. If you haven’t tried it yet, what are you waiting for? Check it out today on https://www.surveycto.com and see how the Assistant can support your data collection.
We. Have. A. Podcast!
That’s right: 2024 was the year SurveyCTO hit the airwaves!
We’ve always loved connecting with data collection professionals to talk about why data matters, what makes a great survey, and how data is transforming lives for the better all around the world.
Survey & Beyond: The Data Collection podcast takes those conversations to a new level. Hosted by long-time Enterprise Success member Marta Costa, the podcast features in-depth discussions with experts in survey research, M&E, humanitarian aid, global health, digital marketing, and beyond.

Even more Hub templates
The Hub is SurveyCTO’s gallery of built-in, editable templates designed to make it easy to get started with advanced data collection projects, such as longitudinal studies, case management, and other complex workflows.
In June of 2024, we expanded the Hub to include templates created by the incredible SurveyCTO power users at the World Bank’s Development Impact (DIME) department.
From agricultural surveys to food security studies, these tested templates cover a range of common use cases that you can quickly implement without needing to build them yourself.
If you have access to the Hub, find these new workflow templates in the Design tab of your server console today.
Custom hands-on training opportunities
This month, December 2024, we’d like to draw attention to SurveyCTO’s Professional Services and Support! We offer a range of dedicated services to ensure the success of your data collection projects. These services include bespoke user onboarding, workflow design, integrations and dashboard creation, and custom functionality creation through our field plug-ins.
What makes these services extra special? They’re delivered exclusively by our Enterprise Success team, so you’ll be working with the people who know SurveyCTO inside and out. The new year is the perfect time to look into a specialized training session for your team, so explore our offerings and get in touch!
Office Hours
If you’ve been a SurveyCTO user for awhile, you know we love a good webinar. Webinars are fantastic opportunities to learn data collection skills, get inspired by other researchers, and interact with SurveyCTO team members. This November, we wanted to take that connection to the next level with a new type of live event: Office Hours!
Led by our expert support team, Office Hours are designed to be interactive opportunities to build skills. We start with a short, focused demo on a key SurveyCTO feature, then open the floor for live Q&A so you can get real-time answers to your questions. Curious to see it in action? Check out our first Office Hours session on constraints and relevance!
Thank you, and happy new year
We’re inspired by SurveyCTO users and the work that you do every day. Thank you for being part of our journey in 2024, and we can’t wait to see what you all accomplish in 2025. Here’s to a year of even better data, better decisions, and greater impact!
